NYONEL Statement on Social Justice
NYONEL acknowledges that social injustice and institutional racism have had a negative impact on the health of black people in this country. As nurses, we have a societal and professional obligation to those we serve to address health inequities within our communities. Therefore, based on the ANA Code of Ethics Provision 9, we commit as an organization of nurse leaders to refocus our priorities to actively promote diversity, equity and inclusiveness representative of our profession. We commit to establishing specific goals in education, mentoring and advocacy that address the many forms of systemic racism and marginalization within our profession, within healthcare, and within our country.
